Code of Federal Regulations (annual edition) (1996-current)
Official topical arrangement of general and permanent rules of departments and agencies, concurrent with the annual print edition. Citation examples: 21 CFR 133.116, where Title 21=Food & Drugs, and Part 133=Cheeses, and Subpart .116=Low Sodium Cheddar Cheese.

Federal Register (1994-current)
Searchable database from the Office of the Federal Register. Compare to the official version of the FR at govinfo.gov. The FR is a chronological record of rules, proposed rules, notices of agencies. Citation example: 48 FR 2743, Jan. 21, 1983, where 48=volume, and 2743=page. Also includes Presidential Proclamations and Executive Orders, as well as other documents such as determinations, letters, memorandums, and reorganization plans. The Presidential documents are compiled annually in title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).
