Resource Sharing (Interlibrary Loan)

What are Electronic Materials?

Electronic materials are chapters or articles from books, journals, conference proceedings, newspapers, and microfilm, as well as electronic copies of theses, dissertations, and reports. These requests can be for items that are in the University at Albany Libraries or items that are not available in our collection. Electronic materials will be in PDF format.

How to Request Electronic Material

  1. Start by searching for your item in the catalog. 

    Search the Catalog
  2. If you don’t see your searched-for item, select “Expand My Results” at the top of the left panel of your screen.
  3. Once you find the item in your results, click on the title.
  4. Scroll down to the "How to get it" section.
  5. Log in with your UAlbany credentials.
  6. Click "Request a Chapter".
  7. You will be taken to ILLiad to complete your request, where the Book Chapter form will be partially completed. For instructions see "Requesting Electronic Material in ILLiad".

Find articles in UAlbany's Catalog or Databases.

Catalog

You can search the catalog for articles by using keywords. You can also search for a specific article by entering the article title.

  1. Start by searching for your item in the catalog. 

    Search the Catalog
  2. To see articles that are not owned by UAlbany, select “Expand My Results” at the top of the left panel of your screen.
  3. Once you find the item in your results, click on the title.
  4. Scroll down to the "How to get it" section.
  5. Log in with your UAlbany credentials.
  6. Click "Request a PDF".
  7. You will be taken to ILLiad to complete your request, where the Book Chapter form will be partially completed. For instructions see "Requesting Electronic Material in ILLiad".

 

Databases

If you find an article in a library database and it is unavailable:

  1. Click the purple "FIND IT!" button.
  2. You will be taken back to our catalog.
  3. Scroll down to the "How to get it" section.
  4. Log in with your UAlbany credentials.
  5. Click "Request a PDF".
  6. You will be taken to ILLiad to complete your request, where the Book Chapter form will be partially completed. For instructions see "Requesting Electronic Material in ILLiad".
