Media Digitization

The University at Albany Libraries can digitize your personal media or library-owned media (DVD, Blu Ray, VHS) and upload it to Panopto, which integrates with your Brightspace course. For details on how to submit a request, please see below.

Due to copyright and licensing laws, we cannot digitize media obtained through Resource Sharing (InterLibrary Loan). See Fair Use Guidelines for Video Use in the Classroom for more information.

Turnaround Time

We process requests in the order received, with a typical turnaround time of 1-2 business days per film.

  • Start of Semester: During the start of the semester, processing may take a week or more due to high demand. We recommend placing your request as early as possible.

Once your film has been uploaded to Panopto you will receive an email notification. See Media Access for instructions on how to add Panopto to your Brightspace course.

Patron-Owned Media

To digitize a film that you own, please bring it to the Circulation Desk at the Main Library and complete a Media Digitization form. Once the film has been digitized, you will be notified by email and your film will be placed on the hold shelf for you to pick up.
