Now that you’ve spent some time thinking about the relationship between generative AI and academic integrity as well as potential benefits and harms of the use of generative AI for academic work, it’s a good time to reflect on some deeper/bigger questions.

Choose one of the questions below and take a moment to reflect on your own thoughts and feelings based on your knowledge, experience, and opinions and any further research you might choose to do.

  • Should the use of generative AI be completely banned on our campus? Why or why not?
  • What uses of generative AI do you think should be allowed and in what situations?
  • What uses of generative AI do you think should be discouraged and in what situations?
  • Should students who use generative AI to complete an assignment have to disclose this to their professor? If so, why? How should this be done?
  • In your opinion, what is the best way for professors to communicate their policies on the use of generative AI in their classes or for future assignments?
