Ariel Phenomenon Directed by Randall Nickerson

This recent documentary by filmmaker Randall Nickerson contains no narration and relies only on archival film footage and present-day interviews of witnesses to an event that occurred on September 16th, 1994, in Ruwa, Zimbabwe. 62 students at the Ariel School were on recess when they claimed to see several UFOs land in a field nearby. Some recounted encounters with the occupants of the crafts, and described communicating with them telepathically. This remains one of the most famous mass UFO sightings in modern history, and it drew the attention of Harvard researcher, John Mack, who interviewed the students shortly after the event occurred. In removing himself completely from the telling of events, Nickerson leaves it up to the viewer to form their own opinions of this extraordinary event.

Moment of Contact Directed by James Fox

For several decades now James Fox has been one of the most visible personalities in the UFO community. His movies have tended to focus on witness accounts, and none more so than this most recent entry. Moment of Contact follows his investigative work in Brazil, regarding a supposed UFO crash that took place in 1996. Several residents of the city of Varginha, as well as military and city officials, reported encounters with two creatures in the immediate aftermath of the incident. Fox was initially dismissive of the event but eventually became captivated when he interviewed witnesses and documented their psychological trauma.
