This Libguide is a starting point for graduate students in the Mental Health Counseling program at the University at Albany. The resources found in this guide are meant to assist graduate students of any level with conducting academic research for their courses and provide resources for professional development. This guide will provide graduate students with access to reference resources offered by the University at Albany Library, including books, e-books, academic articles, journals, and databases. The guide also identifies search techniques that students can utilize when searching for resources on databases. Students will find tips and resources to help with the proper formatting of research papers, including guidance on citation techniques with the most up-to-date standards of the APA 7th edition. Additionally, it also provides students with information on professional organizations, such as the American Psychiatric Association and the American Counseling Association, that provide helpful information, continuing education opportunities, and ethical guidelines for future practitioners.

The content provided through this Libguide aims to support the academic and professional success of all graduate students, whether just beginning in the program, completing the required internship, or preparing for graduation. Students are also encouraged to contact the subject librarian listed in this Libguide for further guidance or assistance.
