Hello! My name is Sarah and I'm a MSIS student at UAlbany and a librarian at a Public Library. I'm a marine biology enthusiast and love learning more about the deep sea in my spare time. My background is in studio art and art history and I earned my Bachelor's degree from SUNY New Paltz.
This guide covers a broad range of marine biology concepts and topics related to living organisms of the ocean, and more specifically, the deep sea. It is intended for undergraduate students, graduate and PhD students of UAlbany. Information is provided on life in all oceanic zones, focusing on those below the sunlit zone and all the way down to the ocean floor. Resources provided are intended to be useful to a wide range of scientific disciplines within and related to the marine biology sphere which correlate to the study of deep-sea organisms. This includes the subtopics of general marine biology, oceanography, biochemistry, zoology, ecology, marine microbiology, evolutionary studies, environmental studies, and more. There are a variety of types of resources available including books, databases, journals, catalogs, encyclopedias, and dictionaries. All resources included in this guide are also available online, from anywhere, and this guide is intended to speed up the research process by connecting students and researchers directly to relevant, up-to-date, and credible research materials. For more help with conducting searches, see the Search Strategies and Keywords tabs for more tips and hints.
