Tips for getting started with and using Evernote for virtual note taking.

Creating Notes

 

A note is any piece of information you want to save for later. You can add different types of content to a note such as:

  • Attach files of any kind

  • Add checkboxes

  • Add bulleted and numbered lists

  • Add photos from your camera roll

  • Take a photo with your camera or webcam

  • Record audio

Create new notes

You can select the notebook where you’d like to save the note

Start by creating a simple text note:

  1. Select Notes from the left panel.
  2. Select + New Note from the top of the screen.
  3. Title your note so it's easier to find later.
  4. Click anywhere inside the note until the cursor appears and start typing.

How to record audio as a note:

Click on the microphone button

  1. Create a new note or open an existing note.
  2. Click the microphone button from the formatting bar. You may need to click the double arrows at the end of the toolbar to reveal more options.
  3. Click Record to start recording. You can type and record at the same time, but if you leave that note the recording will stop and save. A red dot will appear on the Evernote menu bar icon to indicate that a note is currently recording.
  4. When you’re done, click Save to stop recording and save the audio to your note.
