Using PsycINFO

PsycINFO is a bibliographic databse created by the American Psychological Association. To locate evidence-based research, there are two important techniques to use this database that will be helpful: Using the database thesaurus, and limiting by methodology

Using the Thesaurus in PsycINFO

Access the Thesaurus on the Advanced Search Screen next to the Command Line Link:

Limiting by Methodology

You will see a number of options for limiting your search. Select the methodologies that you wish to include by clicking the appropriate checkboxes. Note: Remember that you want clinical, empirical research - Interviews, Focus Groups, Literature Reviews, and Non-clinical Case Studies would not be appropriate resources for evidence based research.
