This guide is meant to act as an introduction to anyone interested in the history of lesbians and queer women. This guide is intended for students studying the humanities, but especially those in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies, LGBTQ+ Studies, History, or Sociology. This guide will be helpful for anyone doing research on the subject or are simply interested in queer history. This guide will identify some key search strategies that will be useful when researching anything related to the subject. You will also find some vital resources including books, articles, videos, databases, and some online resources and archives. The guide is separated by era in history from medieval to contemporary so you can tailor your research to a certain time period. Lesbians and queer women have always existed throughout all of history and across all cultures and will continue to exist because of the perseverance and the tenacity of the queer community.
