Understand Women’s Diverse Involvement In War

Introduction

This guide is intended for college students studying history and/or women’s studies to gain quick access to resources that can give them a better understanding of the diverse and crucial roles women have historically taken on during wartime. Whether that be as solo mothers, production workers, nurses, spies and even fighters, women have contributed significant effort to aid their countries during wars. These resources focus mainly on women throughout the U.S. Civil War, World Wars, and The Vietnam War, however some of the information can be applicable to women in general during wartime. The sources discuss the roles women throughout history carried, as well as some of the lasting effects it had on them.
