IST 605: Bringing the Outdoors In: A Guide to Integrating Nature in Schools

A Guide On How to Bring the Outdoors into Education

About

At many schools, schoolyards are no longer simple concrete boxes with a lone tree or a playground; schools are using schoolyards as educational spaces that are designed to incorporate the natural world into the educational setting, promote physical activity in nature, and incorporate social and emotional learning. In addition, many of these schoolyard habitats and wildlife gardens serve to engage the larger community in the school, support natural local environments, and inspire advocacy for both children and nature.
