These are complicated issues that are difficult to cover in a short guide and you are encouraged to seek more information on these issues on your own.

For now, consider one or more of the following questions based on what you've learned so far:

  • Do you think it’s important to protect authors’ rights to the works they create? Why or why not?
  • If a technology company asked to use information you had created to help train their AI tool without compensation, would you give them permission to do so? Why or why not? What about if they did give you compensation?
  • If a technology company used information you had created to help train their AI tool without your knowledge, permission, or compensation, would you be okay with this or try to fight it?
